Mabel Modrynski, 84 year old resident of Royalton, MN passed away Tuesday, June 19 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 25 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Royalton, MN with Rev. Greg Tomhave. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, MN. Friends may gather from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 24 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Monday at the church. Mabel June Hovland was born February 11, 1928 in Wadena, MN to the late John and Clara Marie (Olson) Hovland. She attended country school in Cushing, MN. She completed her G.E.D. in 1953. As a young lady Mabel worked for Campbell Soup Company in St. Paul, MN. Mabel was united in marriage to Clifford R. Modrynski on May 31, 1951 in Wichita Falls, TX. The couple made their home Royalton, MN, since 1969 . Mabel worked for Munsingwear in Little Falls, MN for several years. Mabel and Clifford also did foster care for 14 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and quilting. Mabel was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Royalton, MN, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Clifford of 61 years; children, Steve (Carrie) Modrynski of Royalton, MN, Larry (Kelly) Modrynski of Gettysburg, PA, David (Diane) Modrynski of Lakeville, MN and Julie Modrynski of Little Falls, MN; siblings, Don (Ginny) Fitch of Little Falls, MN, John (Elaine) Hovald of Duluth, MN, Ella Mae Krueger of Royalton, MN, MaryAnn (Ted) Stodalka of Royalton, MN, Carol (Fred) Oelrich of Eagan, MN; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Hovland; siblings, Norman Hovland, Andy Hovland, Richard Hovland, Raymond Hovland and a sister-in-law, Darlene Hovland.
