Lucille Rakow

Lucille Rakow, age 83, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Lucille was born on September 1, 1927 in Ripley Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to Adelor and Marie Houle. She grew up in Ripley Township and attended country school there. Lucille was united in marriage to Leonard Rakow, Sr. on May 21, 1946 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN. The couple lived in Brainerd, MN, and later relocated to Little Falls. Leonard passed away on October 10, 1961. Lucille was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church as well as a member of the Christian Mothers and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking (especially making bread), canning, gardening, planting trees, dancing, country music, volunteering at the hospital and traveling. Lucille devoted her love and time caring for her handicapped son, Leonard "Sonny", Jr. She loved and enjoyed the time spent with all her children and grandchildren. Lucille married John Hlad on March 19, 1971. John passed away on January 12, 1987. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jim (Betty) Rakow of Little Falls, MN, Richard (Joann) Rakow of Sartell, MN, Mark (Jo) Rakow of Little Falls, MN, Michael (Marie) Rakow of Little Falls, MN, David (Sharon) Rakow of Little Falls, MN, and Brian Hlad of Little Falls; daughters, Carol Rakow of Sartell, MN, Paulette (Don) Boone of Little Falls, MN, Kathy (Pat) Janey of Little Falls, MN, and Renee (Dan) Maslowski of Little Falls, MN; brothers, Larry (Delores) Houle of Little Falls, MN, and Wally (Anne) Houle of Clearwater, MN; 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Adelor & Marie Houle; husbands, Leonard Rakow, Sr. and John Hlad; son, Leonard Rakow, Jr.; grandson, Jordan Boone and sisters, Clarice Welle and Irene Fogel. Arrangements are with Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN.
