Louise M. Zak, age 91, of Richardson Corner, Hillman, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bull Dog Lake with Rev. Justin Fish officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN with a Rosary by the St. Elizabeth Council at 6:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue AT THE CHURCH on Monday one hour prior to the service. Louise Mildred Bruber was born on June 21, 1919 in Leigh Township, Rucker Village in Morrison County, MN to the late Raymond & Eunice (French) Bruber. She grew up in Leigh Township and attended country school. When her mother died, she moved to South St. Paul to live with her Grandmother and attended high school. She was united in marriage to Leo J. Zak on August 17, 1938 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bull Dog Lake. The couple made their home on Platte Lake where they owned and operated Camp Thorofare until 1954. At that time they moved to Krafve Corner (now known as Richardson Corner) where Louise worked at Krafve General Store. She also worked at Bob's Sport Chalet and Laundromat until 1997 at which time she retired. The couple moved to the Harmony House in Pierz in 2008 for a short time. Louise moved to the Pierz Villa in 2009 where she resided at the time of her death. Louise enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, crafts, bowling, dancing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well known for her angel food cakes, Polish coffee cakes, wild rice dressing, chicken dinners with fixings, and especially her lemon pies. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church at Bull Dog Lake, St. Elizabeth's Council, Richardson Township Lakes Area Lions Club, CCW and Harding/Lastrup Snowdusters. Louise was a generous lady opening her door to all her family and friends and was Grandma to everyone in the community. Sewing for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a highlight for her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary (Ron) Boser of Hillman, MN and Midge (Bob) Baniecke of Hillman, MN; grandsons, Doug (Anne) Boser of Andover, MN and Scott (Jeanette) Baniecke of Forest Lake, MN; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, & Alex Boser, Devin & Ethan Nagel, Rachel, Ryan & Megan Baniecke; sister, Elaine Englert of Yucaipa, California; sister-in-law, Louise Thommes of Lastrup, MN and brothers, Micky Wallin of St. Paul, MN, Bob Bruber of Lindstrom, MN, Dick Bruber of Chisago City, MN, Kenny Bruber of St. Paul, MN and Jerry Bruber of St. Paul; special niece, Bea Augustinack and many nieces, nephews and special friends and neighbors. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Eunice (French) Bruber; husband, Leo J. Zak (Sept. 16, 2008); step-mother, Minnie; sisters, Margie Smith, Alice Humenick, Marion Whitney and twin sister, Lois Margaret and brothers, Leslie Bruber and Pete Bruber.
