Lorraine Evelyn Oelrich was born April 8, 1920 to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Hoerner) Langer in Brainerd, MN. At the age of 3 Lorraine and her family moved to Rice, MN where she attended school through the 10th grade. At this time Lorraine went to work for the Rice Telephone Company for 6 years. In 1941 Lorraine married Victor Oelrich. In 1942, Lorraine moved to Royalton when Vic went to serve in World War II. Lorraine was a very active lady all her life, especially during the years she was raising her 9 children. Still she found time to work at the Good Shepherd Home and later at Crestliner for 21 years. She was active in the Legion Auxiliary andwas affectionatelyknown as " the poppy lady". She was a member of the Holy Trinity Christian Mothers, a choir member, a member of the VFW and took care of "old people" until she was 84. Lorrainealso loved to dance and could dance a hop polka with the best of them.
Lorraine always said her family (children, grandchildren and great grandchildren) were the love of her life and the biggest blessing. That love was shown through her delicious meals, mouth-watering breads and delectable sweets. Lorraine was an armchair cheerleader for all sports. Next to her children, her spiritual devotion was her guidance through life. Her television was always tuned to EWTN. Lorraine passed away peacefully on June 28 with a rosary around her neck.
Left to cherish these memories are her children, Elizabeth Sprenkle, Vic (Jan), Fred (Carol), Melvin (Sue), Michael, Mary Conradson (Rod), Judy, Thomas, Kathy; sister, Hildegard Salzbrunn; 9 grandchildren; soon to be 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Nick Langer; husband, Victor; sisters, Rose Mecklin and Bertha Baker and brother, Raymond Langer.
