Lorna I Matthews

Lorna I. Matthews, age 92, of Little Falls, MN, formerly of St. Louis Park, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, 241 - 5th Ave. N., Hopkins, MN, with Rev. Randall Neal officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Lorna Ida (Prehn) Matthews was born on July 22, 1920 in Plato, Minnesota the daughter of Fred & Sophie (Engelmann) Prehn. She grew up and went to school in Plato through the eighth grade. In 1947 she moved to St Louis Park with her son and daughter. While living in St. Louis Park, she worked at Palms Bakery and later McGlynn's Bakery. In 2003, she moved to Little Falls, MN, to be near her children. Lorna was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins. She enjoyed her church family, gardening, the Minnesota Twins, playing bingo and setting puzzles. Her life centered around her devotion to her son and daughter and their famlies. Left to cherish her memory are her children, DiAnne D. Blood of Little Falls, DuWayne (Deborah) Matthews, Sr. of Little Falls; sister, Dorothy (John) Mueller of Hamburg; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Marvin Prehn and great-granddaughter, Sarah Pagel.
