Linda Martin, age 59, of Royalton, MN, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 1950 - 125th Street NW, Rice, MN, with Rev. Bob Trinklein officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, MN. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice. Visitation will continue from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Saturday at the church. Linda was born on June 10, 1953 in St. Cloud, Minnesota the daughter of Mike & Mary Lou (Golman) Pappenfus. She graduated from Foley High School, Class of 1971. She continued her education at Moorhead State University graduating in 1975 with an elementary teaching degree. She was united in marriage to JP Martin on August 17, 1980 at the United Methodist Church in Bellingham, MN. The couple lived in Fargo/Moorhead, Thief River Falls, Little Falls and Royalton. Linda taught elementary school in Thief River Falls and Royalton for the majority of her teaching career, retiring in 2012. Linda was very active in Rice Creek Hunting Dog Club, Northern Minnesota English Springer Spaniel Club, was as past-president of the Teachers Union, participated in the local 4H club, and attended Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, JP of Royalton; father, Mike Pappenfus of Mesa, AZ; step-children, Tina (Rick) Roche of Elk River, MN, John (Sandy) Martin of Rochester, MN, Jay (Dana) Martin of Big Lake, MN; siblings, Diane Pappenfus of Mesa, AZ, Larry Pappenfus of Mesa, AZ, Jody Pappenfus of Newport News, VA, Barb Berczyk of St. Cloud, MN; and step-grandchildren, Kelsey Roche, Kaitlyn Roche, Kaylee Roche all of Elk River, MN, Jayce and Connor Martin of Big Lake. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Pappenfus and step-mother, MaryAnn Pappenfus. Memorials preferred to Rice Area Food Shelf, Old Village Hall Main Street, Rice, MN, 56367 (320) 393 - 2915.
