Leroy Joseph Henneck

Leroy J. Henneck, age 75 of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Long Prairie Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation is from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. A rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Military rites will be conducted by the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. Leroy Joseph Henneck was born May 22, 1936 in Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Frank and Tille (Bieniek) Henneck. As a young boy he grew up north of Lastrup, Minnesota on a farm. Leroy's family moved to Little Falls, Minnesota when he was five years old. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and the Little Falls High School, graduating in 1954. Following his schooling, Leroy entered the United States Army on January 15, 1955 and received an honorable discharge on January 18, 1964. He moved to California and later back to Minnesota. He joined the Army National Guard where he served for 28 years. During his time in the guards, Leroy worked for 25 years as a State of Minnesota employee at Camp Ripley. Leroy was known as an easy going and happy person all his life. He enjoyed reading, going for walks, making lawn ornaments, fishing, hunting, auctions and cake walks at church bazaars. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112, DAV and the Cooties. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Rita Sahr of Little Falls, Minnesota, Louis (Joann) Henneck of Browerville, Minnesota, Marlene Mead of Weston, Wisconsin, Esther (Richard) Nelson of Little Falls, Minnesota and an aunt, Sister Anella Bieniek, OSF of Little Falls, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Tillie Henneck. Casket Bearers are Pat Nelson, Jim Henneck, Ron Sahr, Lance Mead, Ken Mead and Stephanie Eschenbacher.
