LeRoy Kahlhamer, age 74, of Pierz, MN, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11th at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz with Fr. Kenneth Popp and Fr. Bernard Kahlhamer con-celebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz.
Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
LeRoy was born on October 31, 1940, in Hillman, Minnesota, the son of Michael and Mary (Leeb) Kahlhamer. He grew up on a farm in Granite Township where he attended country school. He graduated from Onamia High School in 1958 and furthered his education in electronics at Brown Institute in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Antionette Ann Boser on October 23, 1965, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Hamel, Minnesota for four years and then moved to Pierz. LeRoy had a long and successful career as an Electronics Technician. He was employed for 24 years at Control Data in the Twin Cities and later at Casino Games International and Martek, in Onamia, from which he retired. Outside the field of electronics, LeRoy also worked at Larson Boats and Brandl Motors. LeRoy enjoyed playing cards, hunting, dancing, traveling, witching wells, electrical wiring, tinkering and inventing, woodworking, was a Jack of all trades, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was proud to have achieved his goal of seeing the Grand Canyon. LeRoy was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz and the NRA. He also held an FCC license.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann, of Pierz; children, Kimberly (Chad Kurdi) of Bloomington, Minnesota, Jim (Laura) Kahlhamer of Pierz, and Mike (Tina) Kahlhamer of Hillman, Minnesota; siblings, Lydia Thornton of Vermillion, Ohio and Jeanette Nier of Little Falls, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Kahlhamer; brothers Jerome (June) Kahlhamer and Leander Kahlhamer; and brothers-in-law, Carl Thornton, Herb Keppers, and Bill Nier.
