Leonard Joseph Wimmer, 89 year old resident of Little Falls, MN formerly of Genola, MN died Wednesday at his home in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 15 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Christian Mothers will pray at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 6:30 P.M. at and KC's Office of the Dead at 7:30 P.M. Military honors will be provided by the Pierz Ameircan Legion Post #341. Leonard was born July 24, 1921 in Buckman Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late George and Martha (Grittner) Wimmer. He attended District #21 school in Little Rock, Minnesota. Leonard worked in the Civilian Conservation Camps in Blackduck, MN, McGregor, MN and Effie, MN. Leonard served his Country from 1942-1945 during World War II. He was an Army Ranger during the Normandy Invasion. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Leonard was united in marriage to Lucille Wielinski on July 24, 1946 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. The couple made their home and farmed in East Graham Township, Benton County for over 25 years. In 1970, they moved to the Pierz and Genola area while Leonard worked at Larson Boats in Little Falls, MN. Leonard served on the Genola City Council for 38 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. Leonard was active in the Pierz American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight for 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work, gardening and bowling. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille Wimmer of Little Falls, MN; children, Gerald (Linda) Wimmer of Clearwater, MN, Thomas (Brenda) Wimmer of Lakeville, MN, Patricia (Gerald) Poster of Pierz, MN and Mary Jo Wimmer and Greg Tuttle of Grand Rapids, MN; siblings, Leo Wimmer, Lawrence Wimmer, Frances Robinson, Marie Kampa and Alvina Hanson; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Martha Wimmer; brothers, George, Leo and Wilfred Wimmer and a sister, Delores Wimmer. Casket Bearers will be Jason Wimmer, Joshua Wimmer, Scott Poster, Jed Poster, Micah Tuttle, Joel Tuttle , Joseph Wimmer and Johnathan Wimmer.
