Leonard "Len" Palashewski

October 22, 1927 — March 17, 2014

Leonard Len Palashewski, 86 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, died Monday, March 17 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the church.A parish prayer will be said at 4:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The military honors will be provided by the Little Falls VFW Post #1112 and the Little Falls American Legion Post #46.
Leonard John Palashewski was born October 22, 1927 in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Paul and Anna (Sobiech) Palashewski. He attended grade school in Sobieski, MN until the eighth grade.Len then attended Little Falls Community High School and graduated with the class of 1945. Leonard worked on the Iron Ore Boats on Lake Superior from 1946 until 1951. He attended the American Floral Art School in Chicago, IL for one year. Leonard served his country with the Army Infantry in Korea and Japan from 1951-1953. He was united in marriage to Marlene Wilczek on August 7, 1958 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN.The couple made their home in Little Falls, MN. Len worked for the Little Falls Greenhouse from 1953 until 1963. In 1963, he started and operated Lens Flower Dell until he sold the business in 1986. Len was not the type of guy to sit still, during his retirement years he worked as the groundskeeper for the Rosenmeier Estates and was a substitute janitor for District #482 schools.He enjoyed bowling for which he received many awards. Len enjoyed playing Victory League baseball for the Flensburg Flacons for several years.His children remember fishing with their dad, collecting antiques, vegetable gardening and making his famous dill pickles.Len was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the Knights of Columbus, Little Falls Exchange Club and was a life member of the Little Falls VFW Post #1112 and the Little Falls American Legion Post #46.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marlene Palashewski of Little Falls, MN; children, Marya (Steve) Awker of New Brighton, MN, Teri (Chris) Stockdill of Ventura, CA, Jonathan (Maureen) of Princeton, MN and Patricia (Paul) Hoelscher of Baker City, OR; grandchildren, Peter (Amy) Awker, Paul and Claire Stockdill, Rachel, Elena, Joshua Palashewski, Lilly, Henry and Jack Hoelscher; siblings, Joann Zwiener of Sonoma, CA, Pat Scheeler of Blaine, MN and Jerry (Darlyne) Palashewski of Sobieski, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Rees Palashewski; siblings, Edward Palashewski, Dorothy Collianni, Marge Palashewski, Joseph Palashewski, Fred Palashewski, Daniel Palashewski and Mary Palashewski.
