Leona Marty

Leona Marty, age 77, of Little Falls, MN passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Fr. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Grey Eagle, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service East Chapel in Little Falls, Minnesota. Parish Prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Leona was born on March 7, 1929 to the late Arvid & Julia (Walker) Lawrence in Morrison County. She grew up in the Upsala area, went to Upsala schools through the 10th grade. On April 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Milky Marty. To their union seven children were born: Melvin Marty of Ione, WA, Caroline (Larry) Thompson of St. Augusta, MN, Dale Marty of Little Falls, MN, Gail Kruchton of St. Frances, MN, Velarie (Dave) Karst of Pierz, MN, Milky Jr., who passed away on August 5, 1955, and Renae (Dan) Brausen of Little Falls, MN. In the Fall of 1959, the family moved to Little Falls, MN where Leona worked for Crestliner Boats for five years. Then she worked for six months at Poultry and Egg in St. Cloud, MN. In 1967, she started working as a nurse's aide at the Lutheran Sr. Citizen's Home in Little Falls and remained working there until she retired in May 1990. She was a very giving, loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and playing the Fever machines. She loved to dress up for Halloween and go to parties. She also loved doing puzzles, traveling and gardening. Leona is survived by six children, three sons-in-law, brothers and sisters: Willard (Shirley) Lawrence of Tavaress, FL, Helen (Lew) Storekamp of Paynesville, MN, Betty Ann (Ervin) Czeck of Holdingford, MN, Jerome Lawrence of California, 22 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milky Marty, and infant son, Milky Jr., parents, Julia (Walker) & Arvid Lawrence, brother, Robert (Bob) Lawrence, daughter-in-law, Barb Marty, and grandchild, Brian Branchaud. Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Brausen, Kevin Branchaud, Kenny Branchaud, Leo Thompson, Larry Thompson, Jr. and Billy Marty. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Billmeyer, Mark Prondzinski and Joel Bednar.
