Leona L. Kasella, 91 year old resident of Little Falls, formerly of Royalton, MN died Monday, April 20, 2009 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 and from 9-10 A.M. Friday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN. Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 5:30 P.M. and KC'S Office of The Dead at 7:30 P.M. Leona was born October 11, 1917 in Rice, MN to the late Leo and Rose (Gottwalt) Popp. Leona attended country school. She was united in marriage to Benedict Kasella Sr., on September 24, 1940 at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice, MN. She and her husband farmed in Bellevue Township, Morrison County together until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she taught religious education and was a member of the Christian Mothers, Crosier Apostolate and St. Mary's Mission Group. She was also a member of the Morrison County Citizens Concerned for Life. She enjoyed sewing baby clothes and wedding dresses, gardening, canning, organ playing, bread making, praying and spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren. Leona is survived by her daughters, Jan (Ken) Dahmen of Pierz, MN, Marilyn (Syl) Prokott of Royalton, MN, Colleen (John) Justin of Little Falls, MN; sons, Ben, Jr. (Mary Lou) Kasella of Pierz, MN, Harvey (Marian) Kasella of Royalton, MN and Kevin (Pat) Kasella of Royalton, MN; sisters, Joanne (Adolf) Zistl of St. Stephen, MN, Roselyn (John) Huver of Rice, MN, Johnelle (Douglas) Novak of Gilman, MN and Sr. Mary LeRose Popp, OSF of Little Falls, MN; brothers, Robert (Alma) Popp of Rice, MN, Harold (Valeria) Popp of Florida, Ernest (Delores) Popp of Rice, MN, Elmer (Bernie) Popp of Holdingford, MN; 33 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and one great-great - grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Kasella Sr., brothers, Roman Popp, Wilfred Popp, Marvin Popp, Art Popp and Leo Popp Jr.; sisters, Rita Kloss, Marian Kasella, Coreen Garner, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
