Leon Boser

Leon Joseph Boser, 87 year old resident of Hillman passed away on Sunday, May 19 at his home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M. on Thursday at St. John’s Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup. The burial will be held at the parish cemetery.  The military honors will be provided the Pierz American Legion.

Leon Joseph Boser was born to Mike H. and Laura (Leidenfrost) Boser in Pulaski Township, Minnesota on May 8, 1937. He graduated from Memorial High School in Pierz in 1955. Leon farmed before entering the service. He served from 1959 to 1961 and was honorably discharged. He returned to Lastrup to continue farming. Leon married Connie Smolik on June 25, 1962 in Lastrup. The couple made their home on the family farm and raised their children, Mike, Tom, Jason and foster son, Tim.

Leon served on many boards, including the township board for 34 years. He spent most of his time farming but enjoyed fishing if time permitted, deer hunting, and playing cards with friends. In his retirement years he helped keep the family farm running and enjoyed his time babysitting and taking care of his grandchildren.

Leon is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Mike(Sonia), Tom(Carrie), Jason(Terri), and a foster son, Tim(Diane); grandchildren, Mason, Bryce, Rhys, Ryan, Rachelle, Jenna; and a sister, Marlene.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrel.
