Leola Mae Welle

Leola Mae Welle, age 69 of Lastrup, MN passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN with the Rev. Greg Poser and Rev. Gerald Dalseth con-celebrating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and Friday from 8:00-10:00 A.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 4:30 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 6:30 P.M. and Knights of Columbus Office of the Death at 8:00 P.M. Leola Mae Welle was born August 6, 1937 in Little Falls, Morrison County, MN to the late Edward and Dorothy (Perkins) Janson. She grew up in the Hillman, MN area. Leola attended Onamia Schools graduating with the Class of 1955. Following high school, she worked at Sears in Minneapolis, MN. On June 26, 1956, Leola was united in marriage to Alcuin "Al" Welle at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. Together the couple made their home in Lastrup, where they owned and operated Welle's Store from 1957 to 1975. Leola also worked as a seamstress for 30 years at Larson and Crestliner Boats in Little Falls. Her husband Alcuin "Al" died January 5, 1998. She was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN and the Christian Mothers for 49 years. Leola enjoyed traveling, reading, Blue Grass Festivals, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. Leola is survived by her sons; Dennis Welle & wife, Linda, of Pierz, MN, Mike Welle & wife, Annie, of Genola, MN; daughters, Patty Wacker & husband, Dennis, of Pierz, MN, Louise Welle of Pierz, MN and Diane Johnson & husband, Troy, of Champlin, MN; sister, Lois Woitalla & husband, Joseph, of Harding, MN; sister-in-law, Zita Poser of Pierz, MN; grandchildren, Carrie & Scott Wacker and Ted, Bret, Kyle & Brad Welle; many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Alcuin "Al" Welle and parents, Edward and Dorothy Janson. Casketbearers are Carrie & Scott Wacker and Ted, Bret, Kyle & Brad Welle. Honorary Pallbearers are Diane Barber, Annie Pederson, Delores Watercott, Rosie Wagner, Caroline Fischer & Kathy Peterson.
