Leander "Ole" Loidolt, age 85, of Pierz, MN, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN with Father Skaria Johnus officiating. Burial with military honors by the Pierz American Legion Post #341 will follow in St. John's Parish Cemetery in Lastrup. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, Nov. 5th & 9 to 10 A.M. Thursday, Nov. 6th at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN. Knights of Columbus office of the dead will be at 5 P.M. followed by parish prayers at 6 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Pierz. Leander Christ "Ole" Loidolt was born June 11, 1923 on a farm in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota, the son of John & Marie (Nespore) Loidolt. He grew up on a farm and attended country school. He enlisted in the United State Army on April 6, 1945 and was honorably discharged on October 2, 1946. He was united in marriage to Saraphine Stuckmayer on September 2, 1947 at St. John's Catholic Church in Lastrup. The couple made their home in Pierz where Ole worked for Hartman John Deere. In 1950, they moved to their farm near Lastrup where they devoted the next 35 years to farming and raising their eight children. Their son, Tom took over the family farm and the couple moved to Leander's home place (currently owned by son, David) and for 15 years raised chickens for Golden Plump. Even though Ole was retired, he still kept involved in farming with his sons. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, farming (especially driving the tractor), Old-Tyme music, dancing, playing cards, snowmobiles, and going for walks. Ole had a very strong voice which could be heard for miles if necessary. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Pierz American Legion, and the snowmobile club which he donated much time in getting organized. Church was very important to Ole. He never missed mass. He loved visiting with his friends and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Barbara (Jack) Happke of Pierz, Sharon (Michael) Norris of Lakeville, Beverly (Kevin) Holmquist of Harlowton, MT, Mary (Jim) Tschida of Hopkins, Alyce (Ken) Justin of St. Stephen, Tom (Cathy) Loidolt of Pierz, Diane (Brian) Walker of Big Lake and Dave (Pennie) Loidolt of Pierz; siblings, Rolland (Ceil) Loidolt of Pierz, Raymond (Bernadine) Loidolt of Pierz, Norman (Betty) Loidolt of Little Falls and Hildegard Kapsner of Pierz; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Saraphine (Aug. 10, 2000); parents, John & Marie Loidolt; granddaughter, Sarah Holmquist and siblings, Alvin Loidolt, Donnie Loidolt and Erma Paulsen.
