Lawrence Butch Fisher

February 19, 1957 — February 13, 2015

Lawrence Butch Fisher, 57 year old resident of Hillman, MN, died Friday, February 13 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church Bulldog Lake with Fr. David Forsman. The family will have private burial at a later time. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Monday at the church.

Lawrence Butch Fisher was born February 19, 1957 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Vernon and Bridget (Dombovy) Fisher. He attended grade school in Pine Center, Minnesota and graduated from High School in Onamia, MN, in 1975. In the fall of 1975, Larry attended Brainerd Community College.After the spring 1976 semester, he joined the United States Navy and was active duty from April 1977 until his discharge in 1981.He graduated one year after his tour of duty was completed in 1982 with a degree in professional aviation and aircraft maintenance technology.He continued in the Naval Reserve until July, 1983.During his tour of duty, he traveled to such places as Japan, Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska, South America, West Indies, Ascension Islands, Butch truly loved to travel.He worked for Dyna-Electron Corp. at their test pilot school at the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland. At this facility Larry worked on forty-six different aircrafts. They included gliders, supersonic aircraft as well as helicopters. In 1986, he transferred to the California Naval Air Station Pacific Missile Test Center at Point Mugu and served here until 1990.Butch then headed back to Minnesota for some open space and peace and quiet and was currently residing at the Fisher family farm. He was currently working as a security guard at Grand Casino Mille Lacs.Butch enjoyed all types of aircrafts, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, making pies, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, John (Dee) Fisher of Harding, MN, Ronald (Patti) Fisher of Angora, MN, Jean (Jim) Young of Pierz, MN, Jan Fisher of Blaine, MN, Jenny (Tony) Matvick of Ramey, MN, Julie (Eddie) Kampa of Pierz, MN and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Bridget Fisher; infant sister, Angel Fisher and nieces, Tara Fisher and Ivy Matvik.
