Lavina Pekarek

Lavina Pekarek, 94 year old resident of Pierz, MN formerly of Royalton, MN, died Friday, October 31 at the Pierz Villa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 6th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Morrill, MN with Fr. Leo Moenckedick officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5thfrom 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service on Thursday at the church.

Lavina M. Schraut was born November 18, 1919 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late John and Agnes (Otremba) Schraut. She grew up in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota and attended District Country School.She was united in marriage to Lawrence Pekarek on October 3, 1939 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. The couple made their home in Graham Township from 1944 until 2014.She moved into the Pierz Villa on June 3, 2014, where she resided at the time of her death. Lavina enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and tending to the farm.

Lavina is survived by her children, Daniel (Joan) Pekarek of Seattle, WA, Alfred (Betty) Pekarek of Pierz, MN, Roger (Glorine) Pekarek of St. Anthony Village, MN, Eugene (Maxine) of Rice, MN, Bonnie (Richard) Broda of Zimmerman, MN and Nancy Pekarek of Brainerd MN; sibling, Dorine Firkus of Eagle Bend, MN; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, two on the way; one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Schraut; husband, Lawrence Pekarek on December 31, 2001 and ten siblings.

Casket Bearers will be: John Broda, Tom Pekarek, Bob Pekarek, Cory Pekarek, Scott Pekarek and Mike Pekarek.
