Laverne F. Schneider

Laverne Frances. Schneider 92 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13 from 4-7 p.m. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9-10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Laverne Frances Zilkoski was born September 17, 1924 in Flensburg, Minnesota to the late Cyril and Frances (Zoren) Zilkoski. She attended school in Flensburg as a young girl. After completing her schooling she attended Bliss College in Columbus, Ohio and received her Business Administration degree. She was an office manager for a few years at Bear Brothers in Columbus, Ohio. Laverne returned to Morrison County and met her future husband, Al Schneider. She was united in marriage to Al Schneider on September 5, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Flensburg. She worked at Mod-o-day/ Fashion Crossroads as a sales associate in Little Falls. Laverne was an excellent cook and baker, she was a fabulous soup maker and enjoyed sewing and gardening. Laverne volunteered for the Blood Mobile, St. Gabriels Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, ushering at Our Lady of Lourdes and serving as Sacristan, Parish Council Member and volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes School. She was a member of the following organizations: Toast Mistress, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie (Louie) Hoffmann of Brainerd, MN, Dore (Larry) Arnold of Little Falls, MN and Dawn Schmieg of Victoria, MN; grandchildren, Tracy Slagter, Jennifer Graham, Ross Hoffmann, Kelsey Fuhrmann, Anthony Arnold and Natalie Schmieg; great-grandchildren, Nathan Slagter, Megan Slagter, Louis Graham, Monroe Graham; siblings, Betty Gibson of Sioux Falls, SD, Joanie Zilka of St. Louis Park, MN, Shari Kirchner of Minnetonka, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al Schneider; sisters, Violet Schneider, Lorraine Miller, Bernie (Lyon) Gruber, Carol Theis, Alyce Muncy and Johnie Zilkoski.
