Joy E. Kowitz, 83 year old resident of Royalton, MN, died Friday, July 1 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 2:30 P.M. at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 16 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, MN immediately following the service. Memorials Preferred to The Family of Joy Kowitz. Joy E. Kowitz was born October 28, 1927 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to the late Jonathan and Elsie (Kraft) Duea. She attended elementary school in Rice, MN and graduated from Royalton High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to George Orson Kowitz on October 25, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dixville, MN. The couple made their home in Royalton, MN. Joy worked for 20 years at Thorp Loan (ITT Financial) in Little Falls, MN. Her family remembers her as a lady with a quiet and unassuming nature with a passion for others and her faith. Joy enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Royalton, MN, where she was active with Ladies Aide and especially enjoyed the quilting time fellowship. Remembering her as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother are her husband, George O. Kowitz of Royalton, MN; children, Karen Jo Moonen of Shakopee, MN, Keith Kowitz and wife, Mary, of Prior Lake, MN, Candace Kowitz of Eagan, MN and CaraLee Theis and husband, Dave, of Chaska, MN; grandchildren, Erik Klein, Aimee Miller, Nickolas Moonen, Lisa Beyerl, Tricia Erkenbrack, Joshua Kowitz, Jessica Solberg and Jacey Theis and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Duea and wife, Carmel, of North Carolina and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Letha Hoppes, Jack Duea, Francis "Bud" Duea, Dixie Duea and Dwayne Duea; son-in-law, Dave Moonen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Joshua Kowitz, Erik Klein and Nickolas Moonen.
