Josephine Walz

Josephine (Fussy) Walz, 93 year old resident of Sauk Rapids, MN, formerly of Royalton, MN, died on Friday, September 27 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN.The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 P.M. followed by the Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M.

Josephine (Fussy) Walz was born March 30, 1920 in Royalton, Minnesota to the late Anthony and Lena (Namyst) Fussy. She grew up in Royalton, Minnesota and attended country school. After her schooling she helped raise her siblings.She was united in marriage to Harold Walz on November 14, 1939 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In 1950, the couple moved back to Royalton, Minnesota and purchased the Royalton Produce, which they owned and operated until 1957. During their time in Royalton, Minnesota, Josephine worked as a librarian at the Royalton Public Library for several years.Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, flowers, card playing, bingo, cooking and baking.She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was an active member with the Christian Mothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol (Earl Butch) Bukowski of Sauk Rapids, MN, Sharon (Don) Evens of Avon, MN, Bob and (Kathy) Walz of Plymouth, MN; siblings, Helen Kelzenberg of Richfield, MN and Mary Welch of St. Cloud, MN; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, another on the way and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Lena Fussy; husband, Harold Walz; infant son, Jerome Walz; brothers, John, Anton, Peter and Joseph Fussy; two-infant brothers, Joseph and Steven Fussy; sisters, Rose Smieja, Ann Bosivert, Clara Lust and Agnes Smieja.
