Josephine "Josie" Janish, 88 year old resident of Royalton, MN died Sat. October 10, 2009 at the Arlington Place in St. Joseph, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN with Rev. Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, October 14th and from 9-10:15 AM on Thursday, October 15th at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton. Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 4:30 P.M. followed by parish prayers at 6:30 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Josephine C. Thomalla was born March 30, 1921 in Royalton, MN to the late Frank and Catherine (Galuska) Thomalla. She grew up in Royalton, MN and was united in marriage to Delmore H. Janish on February 6, 1943 in Duluth, MN. Josephine was a cook at several Cafe's in Royalton and the Royalton Elementary School for a number of years. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Josephine enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching sports and bird watching. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Josephine is survived by her, daughters, Catherine (Bill) Olsen of Eagle River, Alaska and Deborah (Thomas) Jerome of St. Cloud, MN; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Catherine (Galuska) Thomalla; husband, Delmore Janish; an infant son; daughter, Sandra Janish and 12 brothers and sisters.
