Joseph Harold Griesch

Joseph H. Griesch, age 81 of Little Falls, MN passed Sunday, July 6, 2008 at his home in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in Annunciation Cemetery in Mayhew Lake, MN. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00-10:00 A.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (West Chapel) in Little Falls. Parish Prayers will be said at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 Joseph Harold Griesch was born April 25, 1927, in Port Washington, WI to the late Joseph & Laura (Guck) Griesch. He attended Mayhew Lake School through the eighth grade. At the age of 18 years, Joe entered the United States Army, where he received his GED. He served in the Army for seven years completing Military Police School in the Criminal Investigation Division and also with the 82nd Air Borne Division. Upon his receiving an Honorable Discharge, Joe returned to Minnesota. He worked the ore boats on the Great Lakes. Joe was united in marriage to Margaret (Bev) Noreen on July 8, 1961 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, MN. Joe later worked as a sales representative and repair specialist for Singer. He worked in the insurance business for forty years, twenty-nine of which were with Farmers Union Insurance Company. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed teaching CCD classes through the Catholic Faith, lectoring in church on Sundays and volunteering for COACT and St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. Joe had a great love of music,enjoyed reading, fishing, watching birds, a good movie, playing cards, cooking and was a noted storyteller. Joe was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret "Bev" Griesch; sons & daughter, Thomas Griesch & special friend, Debbie Brausen, of Little Falls, MN, Paul Griesch & wife, Blanca Perez, of Brooklyn Park, MN and Laura Hansen & husband, David, of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Natalie & Aubrey Griesch of Brooklyn Park, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Bemboom. Casket Bearers are Duane Bemboom, Jim Bemboom, Rodney Bemboom, Terry Bemboom, Alan Herbst & Tom Mrozek.
