John Stanley Czech

John Stanley Czech, 85 year old resident of Anchorage, Alaska died Sunday, May 10. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 22 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN with Rev. Greg Ombok officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday and 9:30 - 10:30 AM Friday all at the church. Prayer service times will be announced on Monday. John S. Czech was born August 5, 1924 in Elmdale Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Vincent and Elizabeth (Fussy) Czech. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Upsala High School. John enlisted in the United States Navy on April 3, 1946 and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1948. He served his country with great dignity and honor during World War II. After his discharge from the military, John moved to Anchorage, Alaska. During his time in Alaska, John worked for the Alaskan Pipeline and also did construction. John enjoyed fishing and betting on dog races and sporting events. He is survived by his great nephew, Chad Jacobaski, great-niece Jodi Jacobaski and several cousins in the Bowlus area. John was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Elizabeth Czech; brother, Joe P. Czech; sisters, Julia Czech, Helen Bieniek, Connie Czech; niece, Romona Jacobaski; nephew, Roger Bieniek. Casket Bears will be the: Bowlus American Legion Post.
