John E. Waldoch,Sr.

John E. Waldoch, Sr. age 98, of Little Falls, MN, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Pierz Villa Nursing Home in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment with military honors by the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a" 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church. John Edward Waldoch, Sr. was born on November 20, 1909 in Sobieski, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Michael "Mike" & Josephine (Sczublewski) Waldoch. He attended country school near Sobieski. He was united in marriage to Rita Meyer on August 30, 1932 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. The couple made their home in Little Falls and operated the Coach Bar. John also worked with farmers on their farms helping them grind feed. He entered the United States Army on April 6, 1944 and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1945. Following the service, he farmed near Camp Ripley and worked for the railroad for 9 years. He then moved to South St. Paul where he lived from 1951 to 1956. John returned to Little Falls where he worked as a bar tender and Manager at the V.F.W. and the Brass Rail. John's hobbies included fishing and volunteer work. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served as a trustee, life member of V.F.W. Post #1112 where he served on the honor guard and delivered Meals on Wheels. Survivors include his children, Richard (Doris) Waldoch of Little Falls, Leonard (Rita) Waldoch of Sauk Centre, Dolores (Joe) Simmel of Chisago City and John (Barbara) Waldoch, Jr. of Little Falls; brothers, August "Gus" Waldoch of Bloomington, Edward Waldoch of Flensburg and Joe Waldoch of Little Falls; sister, Julia Benkowski of Waite Park; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael & Josephine (Sczubiewski) Waldoch; wife, Rita Waldoch (October, 2003); brothers, Frank, Simon and Thomas Waldoch and sister, Tilly Sobania.
