John Albin Czech

John A. Czech, 92 year old resident of Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, Minnesota, died Thursday, February 5 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 9 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with Rev. Leo Moenkedick and Rev. Tim Wenzel officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday, February 8 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service Southeast Chapel and from 8-10 A.M. on Monday at the funeral chapel. Parish Prayers will be said at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday. Military Rites will be conducted by the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. John was born March 7, 1916 in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late John and Mary (Copa) Czech. He grew up on a farm and attended District#20 Country School. He enlisted in the United States Army in April, 1942. John participated in the Aleutian Island Campaign and was awarded the Bronze Star. After being honorably discharged, he was united in marriage to Eleanor J. Witt on June 2, 1947 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. The couple lived and farmed all their married life in Pike Creek Township until John retired in 1988. John also served as Township Assessor and Supervisor in Pike Creek Township. John had a gentle and gracious demeanor towards everyone especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for fishing. John enjoyed gardening and driving around the country to look at the crops. In his active years he enjoyed dancing to Old-Tyme music, playing horse shoes and watching baseball games and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN and the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. John is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jane Czech, of Little Falls, MN; children, Charlotte Czech and husband, Paul McDonald, of St. Paul, MN, Harvey Czech and wife, Carol, Allen Czech and wife, Trudy, Myron Czech and wife, Debbie, all of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Agnes Ritcher and Gertrude Gibas, both of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Alex Wenzel, Emily Wenzel Olin and husband, Todd, Joshua Wenzel, Bradley Czech and wife, Liz, Jonathan Czech, Nicklos Czech and wife, Gina, Lukas Czech and wife, Jen, Heidi Pasela and husband, Chris, Annika Czech, Maysie Czech, Brent Czech and wife, Callie, Micki Czech, Adrienne Czech, Carly Czech; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Kathryn Czech, Chloe and Margeaux Czech, Ailie Czech and Lilly Pasela. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Copa) Czech; sisters, Rose Janey, Clara Kliber, Pauline and Loretta Czech; brothers, Frank, Tom, Joe, Leo, Simon, Stanley and Sylvester Czech.
