Joan Hodel

Joan Hodel, age 64, of Little Falls, MN, passed away unexpectedly at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Ken Riedemann officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8th at the funeral home. Joan Paulette Riedemann was born on September 6, 1948 in Wadena, Minnesota the daughter of Walter & Maybelle (Betz) Riedemann. She grew up on a farm one mile west of Verndale, MN, and graduated from Verndale High School in 1966, with honors. She was united in marriage to Ed Rice in 1969 and they later divorced. She then married Earl Hodel in 1996. Joan enjoyed sewing, fishing, and scrapbooking. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christine (Scott) Webb of Muskego, WI and Charles Rice of La Crosse, WI; step-son, Dean Hodel of Jonestown, TX; grandchildren, Joey, William, Olivia, Jarod, and Britney; step-grandchild, Ashlee; step-great-grandchild, Annabella; mother, Maybelle Riedemann of Pierz, MN; siblings, Janet Grady of Milwaukee, WI, Rev. Kenneth Riedemann of Sauk Centre, MN and Judy Girtz of Little Falls, MN; nieces, Karrie Hodel and Carol Flores and nephew, Kelsey Girtz. Joan was preceded in death by her father, Walter Riedemann and husband, Earl Hodel. Casketbearers will be Joan's co-workers at Unity Family Home Care and Hospice of Little Falls, MN.
