Jerome "Jerry" Twomey, age 87 of Little Falls, MN, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the V.A. Health Care System in St. Cloud, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday from 8:00-11:00 A.M. at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The Knights of Columbus will pray at 6:00 P.M. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 and Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. Jerome "Jerry" Twomey was born April 19, 1925 in St. Cloud, Stearns County, MN to the late James W. & Hildegard V. (Hilger) Twomey. He attended and graduated in 1943 from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud after just 3 years of high school. He continued his education attending one year at St. John's University and 1 years at the University of St. Thomas. Jerome entered the United States Army on August 27, 1943 at Fort Snelling, MN and received an Honorable Discharge on December 24, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI. He served the 1880th Aviation Engineers Division in the China-India-Burma Theater as company clerk with the rank of Sergeant. During his military stay, Jerry received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal. Jerry was united in marriage to Joan Helen Ulrich on June 19, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Aurora, IL. Following their marriage, Jerry & Joan lived in St. Cloud, MN until 1957, when they moved to Little Falls, MN. Jerry worked in St. Cloud at a family owned gas station until the end of 1954. In 1955, he went to work for the National Cash Register Company as a salesman in St. Cloud, MN. From 1956 until 1976, he owned and operated a 24 hour truck stop in Little Falls. Jerry retired in 1976. Jerry enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, camping, card games, snowmobiling and building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. He was a member of the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112, the Little Falls American Legion Post #46, the Knights of Columbus, the Little Falls Exchange Club and several radio controlled model airplane clubs. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan; sons & daughters, Kevin (Sharon) Twomey of Harrisburg, PA, Michael Twomey of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark Twomey of Brooklyn Park, MN, Paul (Diane) Twomey of Plano, TX, Mary Kay (Dennis) Kuryla of Amelia, VA, Eileen Twomey of Crystal, MN and Helen Brenna of Plymouth, MN; brothers, David (Mary) Twomey of Bay Lake, MN; sisters, Renee Twomey of St. Cloud, MN, Kathleen Pecchia of St. Paul, MN, Elaine (Bill) Stramer of Hazelton, ND and Barbara (Bob) Wolfe of Helena, MT; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Twomey; parents, James & Hildegard Twomey and sisters, Ione Daniel, Hildy Nolan, Julie Wenner and a brother, James Twomey.
