Jerome A. Fyten

Jerome "Jerry" Fyten, 70 year old resident of Buckman, MN died Friday, May 21 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Father Gerald Dasleth officiating. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 9:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. The Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 4:30 P.M., Legion Prayers at 6:30 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:30 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Jerome was born June 16, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Walter and Julia (Kuper) Fyten. He was the oldest of ten children. He graduated from Father Pierz Memorial High School in 1957. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 19, 1957 and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1963. Jerry was united in marriage to Judy Chelmo on May 2, 1964 at Resurrection Church in Bloomington, MN. He worked in the Twin Cities at Waldorf Paper Co. until 1965. Jerry then worked for Holiday Stores warehouse division until 1969. In April of 1969 he purchased the John Zenner farm, where he and Judy resided until his death. He also worked for Scenic Sign Co in St. Cloud, MN from April 1969 until 1973. Jerry was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN and the Pierz American Legion. He enjoyed reading classic books on history and philosophy. Jerry enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends, watching the crops and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Fyten; children, Jason Fyten, Stephanie Fyten and special friend, Jerry Malinowski. Grandson, Jacob Klein all Buckman, MN; siblings, Dennis Fyten (Sherry) of Anoka, MN, Ronald Fyten (Betty) of Pierz, MN, Paul Fyten (Marilyn) of Fridley, MN, Walter Fyten (Karen) of Little Falls, MN, Philip Fyten of White Bear Lake, MN, Elizabeth Krahl of Florissont, MO, Monica Dawson of Savage, MN, Steve Fyten (Michelle) of Ramsey, MN and Mark Fyten (Stephanie) of Pierz, MN and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Julia Fyten; son, Shannon Jerome Fyten; nephew, Clifford Fyten and many aunts and uncles. Casket Bearers will be: Rod Winscher, Dave Peterson, Tom Fabian, Rick Fabian, Danny Fyten and Lucas Fyten. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Rod Brixius and Jim Henry.
