Janet Olson

Janet Olson, age 66 of Swanville, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the hospital in Long Prairie, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 28 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN, with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating.A visitation will be held Sunday, October 27 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Monday all at the church in Swanville, MN. The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery North of Little Falls, MN at 2:00 P.M. on Monday.


Janet Joyce Stanek was born October 22, 1947 in Little Falls, MN to the late Clarence and Esther Stanek. Her family moved to Sobieski, MN, when she was six years old.Janet graduated from Little Falls High School in 1965.Following graduation she worked for Rosenmeyer Law Office and Northern Pines Mental Health before moving to work in the Twin Cities.On May 5th 1969, she married her soul mate Bruce C. Olson in Sobieski, MN and moved to Swanville, MN.Janet worked at the Little Falls High School prior to being blessed by her four sons, Bradley, Christopher, Aaron and Joseph.After her boys were in school, she returned to work and retired in 2010 after 28 years from the Swanville State Bank.Janet loved her family and surrounded herself with them at every opportunity.She loved reading, writing poems, singing, dancing, shopping and watching movies.She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Bruce C. Olson of Swanville, MN; sons, Bradley (Angie) Olson of Cohasset, MN, Christopher (Lyndsey) Olson of Rosemount, MN, Aaron Olson of Eagan, MN and Joseph (Danielle) Olson of Lakeville, MN; granddaughters, Jordan, Jenna, Reyna and Alexis; grandsons, Cooper, Blake, Grant and Nash; siblings, Marie (Ron) Gerads of Elk River, MN, John Art Stanek of Minneapolis, MN, Lois (Fred) Landin of Minnetonka, MN, Carolyn (Bobby) Suska of Bowlus, MN, Robert (Jeannie) Stanek of Champlin, MN; sister-in-law, Kathy Davide ; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Esther Stanek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Clara Olson and her brother in-law, Robert Davide.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
