James R. "Jim" Anderson, age 81 of Little Falls, MN passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and Friday from 8:00-10:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The Knights of Columbus Office for the Dead will be at 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral chapel, followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Military Rites will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. James R. "Jim" Anderson was born January 28, 1929 in Farmington, MN to the late Roy and Alice (Bastien) Anderson. Later that same year, his family moved to Little Falls. Jim attended and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1947. He entered the United States Army on January 2, 1951, serving during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 27, 1952 at Camp Ripley, MN. After returning home, he was employed at Camp Ripley. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Holm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Little Falls on September 4, 1954. Following their marriage, Jim managed the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 for 14 years. In 1970, he was elected to the Office of Morrison County Register of Deeds, now known as County Recorder. While serving as Register of Deeds, Jim was active in the State County Recorder's Association serving as President in 1984. In 1986, Jim and Pat moved to Lake Alexander where they lived for 20 years. Since his retirement in 1993, the couple spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. In 2006, Jim & Pat moved back to the City of Little Falls where he resided until his death. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls where he served as a usher and Eucharistic Minister and on the parish council. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, MN and All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. Jim was a Honorary Life Member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46, Forty & Eight where he served as Chef de Gare, the Knights of Columbus, the Little Falls Exchange Club where he served as president, a 20 year retiree of the Little Falls Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Citizens Committee of Camp Ripley. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia "Pat" of Little Falls, MN; daughters & sons, Deborah Anderson-Berardo of Santa Cruz, CA, Dennis (Tatiana) Anderson of Eagan, MN, Douglas (Be') Anderson of Scotts Valley, CA, Sharon (Don) Tracy of Eagan, MN, Scott (Lorraine) Anderson of New Hope, MN; grandchildren, Kate, Brad, Brent, Bryan & Bryce Anderson, Michael, Kyle & Ethan Tracy, Roy Berardo, Julia Kruse, Anton Soukhanov; siblings, Nancy Schultz of Lake Alexander, MN, Mary Ruth (Glynn) Neumann of Burnsville, MN, Bruce Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN; sisters- in- law, Peggy (Robert) Mitchell of Lincoln, CA, Frances Mills of Punta Gorda, FL and Sonja Anderson of Blaine, MN and brother-in-law, Harold (Mitzi) Mills of Fairfield Glade, TN. Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory Anderson; parents, Roy & Alice Anderson; brother, Dale Anderson and brothers-in-law, Richard Schultz and Neal Mills. Casket Bearers are Jim's grandchildren: Kate Anderson, Brad Anderson, Brent Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Bryce Anderson and Michael Tracy.
