Irene Martha Leners

Irene Leners, 89 year old residentof Bowlus, MN, died Sunday, September 15 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 18 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN, with Father John Odero officiating.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17 from 5:00-9:00 P.M. at the church and from 9:00-10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. A parish prayer will be said at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the church.

Irene Martha (Fussy) Leners was born February 8, 1924 in Two Rivers Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Charles and Hedwig (Masog) Fussy.She grew up in Two Rivers Township with her three siblings, Adella, Eleanor and Carl.Irene attended and graduated from Royalton High School in 1941.She was united in marriage to Lawrence Leners on November 6, 1945 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN.The couple made their home in Two Rivers Township and farmed their entire lives. Irene was a homemaker, raising the couples six children. Lawrence died on January 12, 2000.Irene continued living on the family farm until moving into St. Ottos Care Center in February of 2013. She was a member of the Variety Garden Club in Little Falls, MN. Irene was a founding member of the Bowlus Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed helping others when ever a helping hand was needed. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling to Las Vegas, making coffee cakes and donuts, playing cards especially smear.Irene was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kenneth (Nancy) Leners of Tullahoma, TN, Ronald (Marion) Leners of Bowlus, MN, Sandie (Donald) Ebnet of Holdingford, MN, Allen Leners of Bowlus, MN, Brenda Leners (Greg Schoenfelder) of Waconia, MN, Larry (Maxine) Leners of Bowlus, MN; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hedwig Fussy; husband, Lawrence Leners; siblings, Adella Mallak, Eleanor Schulz and Carl Fussy.
