Irene (Maciej) Maciey, 97 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Elmdale, MN, died Wednesday, July 17 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Elmdale, MN, with Father John Odero officiating.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may gather from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Elmdale, MN. A rosary will be said at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday at the church.

Irene Isabelle Jelinski was born on March 29, 1916 in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late John and Helen (Yourczek) Jelinski. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1933 and from the Little Falls Teachers Training Department in 1934.She married John Maciej on April 20, 1938 in Sobieski, MN.The couple welcomed their only child, Roswell Maciej on November 14, 1942. John died on June 10, 1977.Irene married Samuel Maciey on June 16, 1990 and he passed away on May 1, 1995.She taught in the rural schools of Morrison County for 15 years. Irene was the assessor of Swan River Township and also was a certified assessor of Swan River and Sobieski.She was the clerk of District #35 and the first secretary of the Morrison County School Officers Association. Irene was a bookkeeper for the Elmdale Creamery for 26 years. She had her own income tax service for many years. She and her husband had a truck farm and also raised bedding and house plants.She was a member of the Elmdale Birthday Club, St. Monicas Mission Group and the Rosary Society of St. Edwards Church. Irene was an active participant for the 1st Rural School House, which is at the Morrison County Fairgrounds. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, traveling, reading, gardening, feeding the birds, visiting with her grandchildren and other family members.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Wilfred and Ralph Jelinski; sisters, Dolores Stanek and Mildred Motes; daughter-in-law, Helen Maciej of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Diane (Neal) Davis of Twin Brooks, SD, Michelle (Paul) Syring of Walcott, ND, Sharon (Karl) Norvell of Milaca, MN, Gregory (Carol) Maciej of Pequot Lakes, MN, Gerald (Tonia) Maciej of Foley, MN, Edward (Misty) Maciej of Verndale, MN, David Maciej of Little Falls, MN and many great and great-great grandchildren; step-children, James Maciey, Kathleen Ebert, Patricia Sauer and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, John Maciej and Samuel Maciey; son, Roswell Maciej; infant brother, Gerard Jelinski; brother, Arthur Jelinski and sister, Bernadine Woltman.
