Irene Alvina Loven

November 23, 1920 — December 21, 2008

Irene Loven, age 88 of Swanville, MN passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 9:30 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church in Swanville with the Rev. Ron Dockendrof officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 Pm Tuesday and Wednesday from 8-9:30A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church in Swanville. Parish prayers will be said at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening. Irene Loven was born November 23, 1920 in Hartford Township, Todd County, MN to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Wolter) Dinkel. She attended and graduated from Long Prairie High School with the Class of 1938. Irene worked for a few years at Hart Press in Long Prairie. She worked one year in Renton, WA for Boeing Aircraft during WWII. Irene was united in marriage on January 9, 1945, in Long Prairie, MN to John Loven. The couple lived near Swanville, MN all their married life. John died February 4, 2001. Irene later worked as head cook for the Swanville Schools for 8 years. She loved bowling, playing cards, watching baseball and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene is survived by her son, Larry Loven & wife, Betty, daughters, Connie Olson & husband, Donny, Diane Cornell & husband, Allan "Corky", and Roxanne Thompson & special friend, Jim Molitor, all of Swanville, MN; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; sisters, Verena Bluhm and Loretta Stephan and a brother, Herbert Dinkel. Honorary Pallbearers are Martha Koester, Amber Brown, Dee Loven, Jeanette Johnson, Betty Johnson and Rose Mary Welinski. Casketbearers are John Loven, Justin Loven, Troy Olson, Todd Olson, Nathan Olson, Brian Cornell, Keith Cornell, Angie Gapinski, Joy Thompson & Crystal Goodale.
