Hildegard is preceded in death by husband Richard, siblings Frank (Ann), Anna (Bert) Marne, Katherine (William) Meyer, Mary (Matt) Schmitbauer, Joseph (Edna), Barbara (Leo) Zenner, Alfred (Alice) and Florentine (Raymond) Harold. Born on April 8, 1913 on the family farm near Pierz, Minnesota, Hildegard was the eighth of Joseph and Mary (Millner) Hoheisel's nine children. In the summer of 1933, she was married to Richard Bujalski at St. Joseph's Church. Hildegard entered the teaching profession at age 19 during the Great Depression, instructing a class of 42 students in the one-room country school from which she had graduated earlier. Over her 56-year teaching career she tutored severely handicapped children, taught on the elementary level for many years and instituted the kindergarten program at Healy where she taught until her retirement in 1977. In addition to her teaching profession, Hildegard was Treasurer for the City of Pierz for 30 years. After retirement, she went on to initiate and oversee the creation of the Pierz Senior Center and founded the Pierz Area Food Shelf. In 1985 Hildegard was named Morrison County Outstanding Senior Citizen and Minnesota's Outstanding Senior Citizen for her community involvement and volunteer work. That was followed by the distinguished 11 Who Care Award in 1987, the Minnesota Lions Helen Keller Award, and the Jefferson Award for Public Service. Even more important to Hildegard than her public service were her faith, family and friends. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, thank you for loving us. Thank you for giving us so many years of beautiful memories. Thank you for everything. May angels bring you home.
