Helmuth Carl Wilhelm Lipke

Helmuth Carl Wilhelm Lipke, age 91 of Little Falls, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls, Minnesota with Rev. Gary Hendrickson officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls. Helmuth Carl Lipke was born October 28, 1919 in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota to the late Emil and Martha (Bartles) Lipke. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. On March 25, 1934, Helmuth was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota. As a young boy, he attended Buffalo Lake, Hector and Glencoe country schools. After completing his schooling, Helmuth enlisted in the United States Army on February 9, 1942 and was honorably discharged on September 9, 1945. Helmuth farmed all his adult life in Stewart, Silver Lake, Little Falls and Belle Prairie, Minnesota. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls and the Silver Lake American Legion Post #141. He enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants, ducks and deer, and playing cards especially Smear and Hand and Foot. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Alice Schwarzrock of Glencoe, Minnesota, Carol Stoeckmann of Hamburg, Minnesota, Ervin (Janet) Lipke of Westminster, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, JoAnn Lipke of Glencoe, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Martha Lipke; siblings, Olga (Alvin) Opitz, Marie (Walter) Opitz, Arnold Lipke, Fred Lipke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leonard Schwarzrock, Walter Lipke, Marvin Stoeckmann, Lorraine (Frank) Rosenow and Harold (LaVonne) Lipke. Casket bearers are Matthew Opitz, Stanley Schlueter, Clint Lipke, Jonathan Ranzau, Tom Sudheimer and Dennis Eishen.
