Helen Sczublewski

Helen Sczublewski, age 95, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, with Fr. Jimmy Joseph and Fr. Ken Brenny concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN, with a Franciscan Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Christian Mothers Rosary at 6:00 p.m. with a time of sharing immediately following the rosary and the Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 22nd at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Helen was born on May 30, 1917 in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the daughter of Simon & Pauline (Bursey) Sobiech. She grew up on a farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Jerome Sczublewski on November 4, 1940, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. The couple made their home on a farm near Sobieski where they raised their family. Helen worked as a housewife and mother and also helped Jerry on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, quilting, sewing, baking coffee cakes, and cooking for her family. Helen enjoyed being with her family and friends and the hospitality that accompanied those visits. She also enjoyed old-time music especially listening to Jerry play the accordion. Helen was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary daily along with attending Mass whenever possible. She was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, the Rosary Society and the Christian Mothers. Left to Cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Judy) Sczublewski of Little Falls, Patricia (Roland) Hartmann of Pierz, Karen (Ronald) Scrimshaw of Merrifield, Ken (Diane) Sczublewski of Shell Lake, WI, Joe (Marcia) Sczublewski of Albert Lea, Rick (Linda) Sczublewski of Pierz and Janice (Rodney) Roering of Upsala; sister-in-law, Bernice Sczublewski of Little Falls; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren soon to arrive and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry (1979); infant twin grandsons, Jeffrey Jerome and Michael Paul Scrimshaw; brothers, Richard, Albert and Edmund Sobiech and sisters, Martha Sobiech, Elizabeth Zilka, and Marion Gwost.
