Helen M. Malisheske, 90 year old resident of Long Prairie, MN formerly of Pierz, MN died Sunday, February 14 at Long Prairie Hospital in Long Prairie, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 19 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Maciej officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 9:00 A.M.-10:15 A.M. on Friday all visitation times will be held at the church in Harding, MN. Helen was born February 19, 1919 in Tabor, MN to the late Thomas and Mary (Soltis) Jancik. The family moved to Sartell, MN when Helen was a young girl. She graduated from Sauk Rapids High School with the class of 1936. After high school she worked at Newberry's a 5 and dime store in St. Cloud, MN. During World War II she participated in the war effort by working at Char-Gale in St. Cloud, MN. She was united in marriage to Daniel Malisheske on November 19, 1943 at St. Augustine Parish in St. Cloud MN. The couple farmed near Milaca, MN until 1952. The couple purchased a farm in Pulaski Township in Morrison County, MN, where the couple farmed for over 45 years. Daniel passed away in the spring of 1997, in their 55th year of marriage. Helen moved to Pierz, MN in the fall of 1997. Helen was very active in Pierz, MN. She was involved in senior activities and entertaining. Shortly after her 90th birthday her health declined and caused her to move to her daughter's house in Long Prairie, MN. She loved to play cards with family and friends, entertaining and socializing. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. In her later years Helen and Dan enjoyed traveling, fishing and being doting grandparents. She was a member of Rosary Sodality, Apostolate of Crosier and the Mission Circle of Pierz, MN. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Borgheiinck and husband, Tony, of Long Prairie, MN, Laurice Bauer and husband, Ron, of Willsboro, NY, Karl Malisheske and fiance, Connie, of Kasson, MN; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sisters, Rosemary Habicht of Willmar, MN, Leona Ekker of Sartell, MN; brothers, Tom Jancik and wife, Marianne, of Waite Park, MN, Dennis Jancik of Buffalo, MN; brother-in-law, Willard Malisheske and wife, Alta, of Sartell, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jancik and Mary (Soltis) Jancik; husband, Daniel died in the spring of 1997; infant son, Mark; brothers, Alvin Jancik, George Jancik and infant brothers.
