Gregory "Greg" Kruschek, 52 year old resident of Nome, Alaska formerly of Hillman, MN died March 12. A Mass of Christian Burial wil be held Thursday, March 24 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rita's Catholic CHurch in Hillman, MN. Burial will be held at a later time. Friends may gather from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday. Greg was born January 6, 1959 in Onamia, MN to Wilfred "Bud" and Rita (Magdziars) Kruschek. Greg attended Onamia High School. Greg moved to Nome, AK in February 1983 to work in the construction field. He returned to Minnesota in November of that year to claim his ultimate prize as he and Cheryl "Cheri" Stang were united in marriage on November 5, 1983. The couple then headed back to Nome, AK to start their life together. Greg continued working in the carpentry business, with Hanebuth Builders, constructing many of the buildings in Nome. In 1986 he decided to try his hand operating equipment, working on the roads with Johnson-Brisk Construction. The City of Nome was lucky enough to have him come on board in July 1995 where he continued to hone his operating skills and came to be known as "The BEST grader operator" the world has seen. He spoiled all of Nome's residents with special treatment during the snow removal season. On March 31, 1990 Greg and Cheri welcomed their beautiful daughter Katie Ann into their home. Katie is her "Daddy's Girl", and she took her spot by his side as he taught her all he knew. They had many fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling adventures, and they cherished their time together. There is no greater love than that of an adoring father. The three most important things in Greg's life were Family, Work and Hunting, and he gave 150% to them all. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Cheri Kruschek, his daughter Katie Kruschek, both of Nome, AK; parents Bud & Rita Kruschek, Hillman, MN; siblings, Mimi Kruschek, Little Falls, MN, Julie (Leo) Nilges, Kincaid, KS, Jason (Kim) Kruschek, Hillman, MN, Amy (Darrel) Saehr, Pierz, MN; mother-in-law, Jeanne Stang of Pierz, MN along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Casper & Margaret Kruschek, John & Helen Magdziars, and his father-in-law Martin Stang. Memorials are preferred to the family of Gregory Kruschek. Arrangements for Greg are with the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN.
