Gertrude Anderson, 93 year old resident of Royalton, MN died Friday, February 4 at her daughter's home in Coon Rapids, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 7 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Royalton. Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 6 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN and from 9:00 -10:30 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Christian Mother's Rosary will be said at 3:00 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Gertrude (Plante) Anderson was born February 20, 1917 in Fort Ripley, MN to the late Isadore and Myrtle (Martineau) Plante. She was united in marriage to Elmer Anderson on February 6, 1940 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Fort Ripley, MN. The couple made their home in Royalton, where they owned Anderson Grain Elevator for over 20 years. Gertrude was passionate about her faith and her family. She was a religion teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church for 19 years. Gertrude also volunteered at Royalton Elementary for several years helping children with reading. She was an avid gardener, and would can and freeze her vegetables and share her crop with family and friends. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Rosary Society and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Karen Virnig of Minneapolis, John and Erma Anderson of Rochester, Judy and Ronald Gallus of Alexandria, Nancy and Ken Leners of Tullahoma, TN, James and Connie Anderson of Royalton, Mary Shuman of Coon Rapids, Rebecca and Marvin Dupre of Willmar and Patty and John Popp of Rice; 31 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Elmer Anderson on December 9, 1989; infant son, Michael Anderson; granddaughter, Wendy Virnig; son-in-law, Edward Virnig; grandson-in-law, Brad Lemke; siblings, Elmer Plante and Sr. Celine Plante.
