George Kleinschmidt, age 73, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. Cloud Hospital following a courageous battle against Leukemia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, and 10:00 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.
There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
George Joseph Kleinschmidt was born on February 22, 1940, in Little Falls, Minnesota, the son of Edward & Bertha (Schraut) Kleinschmidt. He grew up in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1958. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served for four years. After his military service, he attended St. Cloud State University, where he received his Bachelors degree as well as his Masters. For some 30 years, George worked as a Rehabilitation Area Manager for Vocational Rehabilitation Services (State of Minnesota). When not working, George enjoyed fishing, hunting, and searching for
antiques. His family will always remember him as a devoted father. He had a great sense of humor and could tell a good story. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion, Little Falls V.F.W., the former Little Falls Jaycees, and attended St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Debbie (Randy) Kalahar of Payson, AZ, Renee (Bruce) Erickson of Little Falls, MN, Terry (Michelle) Jorgenson of Eden Prairie, MN, Kirk (Cathy Finken) Kleinschmidt of Rochester, MN, Julie (Paul) Diethelm of St. Cloud, MN, and Chad (Teresa) Kleinschmidt of Little Falls, MN; siblings, Patricia Nina Pappas-Hoffman of Brainerd, MN, and Edward (Margaret Peg) Kleinschmidt of Little Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Bertha; sister, Elizabeth Betty Jorgenson; nephews, Russell Jorgenson and Mark Kleinschmidt.
