George Gwost, age 91, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 and V.F.W. Post #1112. Visitation will be held from 4:00 a" 8:00 P.M. Friday, and 9:00 a" 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (West Chapel) in Little Falls. There will be a rosary at 4:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 5:30 P.M. and Knights of Columbus at 7:00 P.M. George Gregory Gwost was born on April 22, 1917 in Little Falls, Minnesota the son of John J. & Victoria (Dziedzic) Gwosdz. He grew up in Sobieski and attended school through the 8th grade. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 19, 1941 and served in WWII in the Asian Pacific Theater where he received a Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged on August 7, 1945. He was united in marriage to Evangeline "Vangie" Merchlewicz on April 10, 1945. The couple enjoyed 63 years together living in Little Falls their entire married life. George was employed at Minnesota Power for 32 years retiring as the District Line Foreman. He was a life-long, faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served as a trustee, on the basement remodeling crew and sang in the choir for 40+ years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Minnesota Twins Baseball, music a" entertaining others with his harmonica, dancing polka with his wife and soul mate, gardening with pine trees and roses, and keeping connected with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, friends, and other relatives. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1948, American Legion Post #46, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1112, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the Highway 27 Club and the Wheezer Geezers Society. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Evangeline "Vangie" Gwost of Little Falls; children, Jeanne (Terry) Bailey of St. Paul, MN, Gerard (Karla) Gwost of Harwood, ND, Michael (Susan) Gwost of Anacortes, WA and Mary Ann G. (John) Hennen of Shoreview, MN; siblings, David Gwost of Little Falls, Esther Stanek of Little Falls and Rose Ring of Centerline, MI; grandchildren, Trina (Scott) Uttley, Joshua (Alina) Bailey, Matthew Gwost, Eric Gwost, Andrew Gwost, Eugene Gwost, Daniel Gwost, Ivy Gwost, Jessica Hennen and Joseph Hennen and great-granddaughter, Evangeline "Evie" Uttley. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Mary Suzanne; brothers, Frank John, Joseph, Andrew, Walter and Edward and sisters, Tecla Gardner, Louise Lashinski and Mary Ciminski.
