Genevieve Mathalida Dombowy-Fleck

Genevieve M. Dambowy-Fleck, age 95 of Pierz, MN, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 17, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN with the Rev. Malcom Nazareth officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Polish Cemetery near Harding, MN. Visitation is from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz. Genevie M. (Orzechowski) Dambowy-Fleck was born January 15, 1915 in Alberta Township, Benton County, MN to the late John & Martha (Zulawski) Orzechowski. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Gen married Albert Dambowy in 1932. The couple moved to Platte Township, Morrison County, MN where they raised seven children on their dairy farm. Albert died in 1953. Genevieve then raised her family alone. In 1956, Gen married Hugh Fleck. Hugh died in 1991. Gen enjoyed the satisfaction of milking cows until she was 75 years old. She also loved her flowers and raised beautiful gladiolas and African violets. Gen was known for her embroidery, homemade bread, poppyseed cake, as well as her baked chicken. She was very proud of doing readings at church services. Gen loved and cherished her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all brought her much love and joy. Left to cherish Genevieve's memory are her children, Joseph (Patricia) Dambowy of Finlayson, MN, George Dambowy of Pierz, MN, Robert (Nancy) Dambowy of Brainerd, MN, William (Sharline) Dambowy of Rapid City, SD, Rosella Dambowy of St. Joseph, MN, Marian Dambowy of Pierz, MN and Alice Dambowy of Vista, CA; grandchildren Kelly (Les) Harter, Michael (Elizabeth Cabalka) Dambowy, Lisa (Jeff) Wojtysiak, Jonathan (Ashton) Dambowy, Jodi (Keith) Soderman, Jennifer (Ron) Will, Jason (Jodi) Dambowy, Nicole (Mike) Jansen, Paul (Nicole) Dambowy and Anne (Jim) Roslansky and 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert W. Dambowy; second husband, Hugh Fleck; siblings, Richard Orzechowski, Henry Dombovy, Bridget Fisher and Josephine Hayes; parents, John & Martha Orzechowski. Casketbearers are Jason Dambowy, Paul Dambowy, Jonathan Dambowy, Nate Wojtysiak, Keith Soderman and Ron Will.
