Frank L. Schirmers

Frank Schirmers, 54 year old resident of Buckman, MN died Friday, December 25, 2009 in Pierz, MN surrounded by his family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be held in the Parish Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2009 and from 8-10 A.M. Tuesday, December 29th both at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral service in Pierz, MN. A Christian Mother's and St. Michael's Catholic Aid Rosary will be said at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 6:30 P.M. and Knights of Columbus office of the dead prayers at 7:30 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Frank Leonard Schirmers was born Oct. 3, 1955 in Little Falls, MN to the late Alfred and Rosalia (Rastetter) Schirmers. He was united in marriage to Carol Virnig on July, 23 1983 in Pierz, MN. They resided on the Schirmers' family farm where they raised their three children. They later divorced. Frank made a career in trucking which included the following businesses: Buckman Co-op, Anderson Trucking, Bauerly's Inc., Amcon Block, Barret Trucking and Frank Schirmers' Trucking. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed cooking, handiwork, raising Gold `N Plump Chickens and deer and especially spending time with his family and friends. Frank was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, Knights of Columbus and the Four Wheeler Club. He also was an instructor for the DNR Youth Firearms and Snowmobile Safety Training, a Buckman First Responder and a foster parent for Morrison County for over 15 years. He was an usher for St. Michael's Church in Buckman, volunteer for the church and school, and took pride in organizing the annual servers "Twins" Game. Frank is survived by his children, Chad (Amanda) Schirmers of East Bethel, MN, Mike Schirmers of Buckman, MN and Sarah Schirmers of Pierz, MN; brothers and sisters, Willie (Diane) Schirmers of Pierz, MN, Jim (Darlene) Schirmers of Ramona, CA. Herbie Schirmers of Anchorage, AK and Mary Lou (Ed) Drong of Little Falls, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rosalia Schirmers and his son, Frank Schirmers, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
