Fr. Leo Otto, age 89, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at St. Benedicts Care Center, St. Cloud, MN.

1925-2014

Reverend Leo Aloysius Otto was born on January 1, 1925, in Canby, MN.He was the son of Anton and Cecelia Lipinski Otto.Father Otto attended Elementary School District 48, Marble Township, MN and Saint John Cantius Grade School, Wilno, MN; high school at Ivanhoe, and Crosier High School, Onamia, MN.He received his college and seminary training at Crosier Seminary, Onamia, MN, and Saint Johns Seminary, Collegeville, MN.Father Otto was ordained by The Most Reverend Peter W. Bartholome at Saint Marys Cathedal, Saint Cloud, MN on June 2, 1956.He celebrated his First Mass at Saint John Cantius Church, Wilno, MN on June 3, 1956.

Following ordination Father Otto served in these assignments for a brief period of time: Holy Angels, Saint Cloud; Saint Michaels Hospital, Sauk Centre; Saint Anns, Wadena; Assumption, Menagha; and Saint Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge, MN.He served as pastor of the following parishes:Holy Cross, Harding, June 1958-July 1977; and Sacred Heart, Flensburg, July 1977-July 1995.Father Otto retired in July 6, 1995.A year after retiring he was appointed administrator of Sacred Heart, Dent, and Saint Lawrence, Rush Lake, August 1996-July 1999.Father Otto retired again July 1, 1999.

Father Otto served as a Chaplain at St. Ottos Care Center and St. Gabriels Hospital, Little Falls, MN 1983-1995.

Father Otto is survived by his sister, Frances Matthys of Marshall.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Walter, Harry, Joseph and sisters, Nettie Jerzak and Rose Streachek.

Memorials preferred and will be directed to Catholic Education as requested by Fr. Otto.

Visitation Continues: 9:00 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial:11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls.
