Florence Zimmermann, age 85, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by Parish Prayers at 5:30 P.M. Florence Margaret Kempenich was born on February 19, 1924 in Cushing Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the daughter of Anthony & Florence (Simmons) Kempenich. She attended and graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls. After high school, she moved to the Twin Cities where she was employed as a sheet metal worker during World War II. She returned to Little Falls and worked at the Black & White. She was united in marriage to Leo Donald Zimmermann on November 7, 1946 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Leo & Florence lived most of their life on a farm in Agram Township where they raised their family. Florence enjoyed gardening and reading, sewing, quilting and other needle work until her eyesight declined. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls where she taught CCD classes. She was also active in the Morrison County DFL, National Farmer Organization, Farmers Union and COACT. Florence especially enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel Zimmermann of Little Falls, David (Laure) Zimmermann of Sobieski, Joan (Joe) Conway of Atwater, Dean (Pam) Zimmermann of Alexandria, Steven Zimmermann of Little Falls, Gale Zimmermann of Little Falls, Gary Zimmermann of Sartell, and Leo (Cheryl) Zimmermann of Gilman; siblings, John (Pat) Kempenich of Rockford, MN; Lucille (Ed) Sobania of Little Falls, Gen (Lawrence) Sperandio of Missouri, Barbara Brown of Chino, CA and Mary Kempenich of Texas; sisters-in-law, Darlene Kempenich of Maple Lake and Angie (Russ) Kay of Backus; 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; sons, Henry, William and Thomas (infant); brothers Frank (Helen), Anthony and Leonard.
