Cashman, Crosier Father James Homer, OSC. Born in Blooming Prairie, MN, to Thomas and Mary Loretta (Keenan) on May 11, 1921, the youngest of 12 children. Died January 28, 2015, at the Mille Lacs Health System Long Term Care at the age of 93.
Jim attended the Crosier Seminary College in Onamia and joined the Crosier novitiate in Hastings, NE, in 1942. He made First Profession of Vows on August 28, 1943, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 27, 1948.
He earned an M.A. in Secondary Education and served for five years on the faculty of the Crosiers Our Lady of the Lake Seminary in Syracuse, IN, and for thirty-one years at the diocesan Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY, where he was instrumental in their notable theater department, helping nurture the talents of numerous future cinema stars. He then served as the Pastor of St. Louis Bertrand parish in Foreston, MN, from 1987 until his retirement in 2006 when he returned to the Crosier Priory in Onamia.
Fr. Cashman was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Association for Amateur Radio. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families and by his beloved Crosier brothers.
Services will be held at the Crosier Priory church in Onamia, MN, on Monday, February 2, 2015, with the Reception of the Body and the Office for the Dead at 8:30 a.m. Vigil will be kept until 11 a.m. when the funeral Mass will begin. A luncheon will follow immediately with later private burial in the Priory cemetery.
