Evelyn L. Opatz, age 71, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Country Manor in Sartell, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2875 a" 10th Ave. NE, Sauk Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Sun. May 4thth at Country Manor Health Care Center Chapel, 520 a" 1st Street NE, Sartell, MN with a prayer service at 7:00pm and 9-10am Monday at the church. Evelyn Opatz was born on July 6, 1936 in Minden Township, Benton County, Minnesota to the late John & Luella (Neary) Adelman. She graduated as Valedictorian from Foley High School and attended two years of college at St. Cloud State. She was united in marriage to Peter P. Opatz on May 26, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minden Township, Benton County, MN. The couple made their home in So. St. Paul where they lived most of their married life. In the summer of 2004, they moved to Little Falls. Evelyn was primarily a wife, homemaker and mother. She did work outside the home as well. She started her career at 3M in the tape division. She decided to put her career on hold while she raised her children. When she returned to work, she worked for the Deputy Registrar in South St. Paul, then a secretary, and finally as a licensed insurance agent for Illinois Farmers Insurance from which she retired. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in South St. Paul for many years where she actively served in many church organizations. She was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Survivors include her children, Michael (Tammy) Opatz of Hampton, Gregory (Mary) Opatz of Cambridge, David (Lisa) Opatz of Fairfax, VA; siblings, Clarence (Jeanice) Adelman of Sauk Rapids, John (Donna) Adelman, Jr. of Sauk Rapids, Sylvester Adelman of St. Cloud, Lester (Franny) Adelman of Mayhew Lake, Kevin (LoraLee) Adelman of Sauk Rapids and Luella (William Jackels) of Waite Park; grandchildren, Katherine, John, Anthony, Cecilia, Hilary, Kevin, Thomas, Tessa, Natalie, Sarah, Erica Opatz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter P. Opatz (November 23, 2007); parents, John & Luella Adelman; daughter, Theresa Marie Opatz. Memorials preferred to Catholic Charities.
