Evangeline Zupko-Vados

Evangeline "Vangie" Zupko-Vados, age 76 of St. Anthony, MN, formerly of Flensburg, MN, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Funeral Services will be held at (10:30 am Monday, December 8, 2008 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Flensburg, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, December 7th and 9:30-10:30 am Monday, December 8th all at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville. There will be a prayer service at 7:15 pm Sunday at the church. Evangeline "Vangie" Lehrke was born on June 14, 1932 in Little Falls, MN. She grew up in the Swanville area and attended District #11 from first to eighth grade. She graduated from Swanville High School, Class of 1949-1950. She was united in marriage to Michael Zupko on August 25, 1952 at Sacred Heart Church Rectory in Flensburg. The couple made their home Minneapolis where they lived for two years. They then moved to a farm in Flensburg where they raised their family. Vangie was primarily a homemaker. She also held several other jobs throughout her life while helping her husband with the family farm. Michael passed away on July 9, 1980 and Vangie continued living in Flensburg. On October 4, 1986 she was united in marriage to John Vados and moved to Minneapolis. While living in Minneapolis, she volunteered at Chandler Assisted Living Home and Ponds View Nursing Home where she was greatly appreciated. Vangie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson (she always made sure everyone had enough food to eat), crafts, helping out on the farm where her children still reside, traveling and visiting with people. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville and currently of Gloria Dei Church in Minneapolis. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Vados of Minneapolis; children, Louise (Francis) Genereux of Dent, MN, Jim (Colleen) Zupko of Brainerd, MN, Douglas (Julie) Zupko of Flensburg, MN, Bill (Carla) Zupko of Flensburg, MN, Michael (Carrie) Zupko of Flensburg, MN; step-children, Sherry (Joe) Fehn of Minneapolis, MN, Sandy Chenvert of St. Michael, MN, Greg Vados of Plymouth, MN, Cindy (Jeff) Kueng of New Brighton, MN; special nephew, Cory Zupko-Anderson of Hutchinson, MN; brother, William (Coreen) Lehrke, Jr. of Swanville, MN; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; 7 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, William & Louise (Hartwig) Lehrke; first husband, Michael Zupko; son, Gregory Zupko.
