Elmer Monson, Jr.

Elmer Monson, Jr. 68 year old resident of Hillman, MN, died as the result of an automobile accident on Sunday, November 22. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28 from 9:00 11:00 a.m. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. The burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillman, MN at 2:00 P.M. Saturday. The Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillman American Legion Post #602.

Elmer Monson was born February 10, 1947 in Little Falls, MN to the late Elmer, Sr. and Carmen Clarice (Probasco) Monson. He attended school in Onamia, MN with the Class of 1965. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 21, 1966 in Minneapolis, MN. He served his Country until his honorable discharge on February 20, 1969 in St. Louis, MO. He received the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Elmer attended St. Cloud Vocational School, where he received a diploma in Sales and Business Management. Elmer worked as a Construction Superintendent. He was united in marriage to Linda Lee. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Patricia Holland in Little Falls, MN. Patricia died in March of 2013. Elmer enjoyed canning, family genealogy, farming with his horses and visiting with family, friends and total strangers who became new friends. He enjoyed preserving history.



Left to cherish his memory are his children, Fred (Lisa) Monson of Sisseton, SD, Kristina (Travis) Wolfe of Lakeville, MN, Ingrid (Michael Clooten) Monson of Columbia, MO, Carl (Laura) Monson of Sartell, MN, Matthew Monson of South Dakota, Peter (Crystin Voxland) Monson of Cottage Grove, MN and Amy (Nathan Kempka) Monson of Backus, MN; siblings, Barbara (Rick) Wruck of Mapleton, MN, Beverly Kaupa of Waseca, MN, Deb Wohlers of Zimmerman, MN, Danny (Sandy) Monson of Onamia, MN, Lesa (Shawn) Shoutz of Clearwater, MN; 12 grandchildren, Dillon Solberg, Andrew, Tyler, Jacob Monson, Taeh Blunk, Brieleigh Monson Charlie, Hadley Monson, Kayden, Abigail and Penelope Monson-Kempka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Carmen Clarice Monson;wife, Patricia Monson; granddaughter, Trista Monson.
