Elaine Block

Elaine Block, age 85, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 8:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. Elaine was born on June 28, 1925 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the daughter of Mike & Regina (Boser) Flicker. She attended country school in Granite Township. Elaine worked as a housekeeper for a number of families in the Pierz area before she was married. She was united in marriage to John Block on June 16, 1953 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Little Falls where they lived all their married life. Elaine continued working as a housekeeper in the Little Falls area. She enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice and playing bingo at church bazaars, reading, gardening and enjoyed meals with her family. Elaine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls and the St. Mary's Christian Mothers. Elaine enjoyed the company of her niece, Mary Kippley who stayed with her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gary (Laura) Block of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Jeanette Menden of Pierz, MN, Wilma Kippley of Little Falls, MN, and Sr. Sylvia (Nedra) Flicker of St. Joseph, MN; four step-grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Darren and Logan Magnan and several nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on January 23, 2001; step-grandson, Aaron Magnan; sisters, Arlene Flicker and Patricia Flicker; brother, Ervin Flicker and an infant brother. Memorials preferred to Horizon Health Home care.
